Horses need movement. In addition to time spent grazing, it is important to provide senior horses with regular sessions of directed activity to enhance suppleness, cardio and overall fitness, and topline maintenance for back support. Our Active Senior Package is a preventative maintenance program providing 2-20 minute or 1-40 minute session(s) each week for the entire month (160+ minutes total). Session focus is based on observation and evaluation of individual horse by our Horse Master, Suzi Zielinski, a knowledgeable practitioner. All in-hand work is executed in our covered arena on GGT footing. Retired horses are not ridden. Sessions may include:

A Day in the Life:

7:00 AM: Fresh hay and ration balancer with supplements are fed in stalls.

8:00-8:30 AM: Horses are checked over and lightly groomed before being turned out for the day with their herd (or solo) to graze in pastures. If pasture grass is dormant, baled hay is made available for grazing. Dry lot available.

4:30-6:00 PM: Depending on time of year, horses are returned to their stalls with fresh hay, ration balancer and supplements. They are checked over and any issues are addressed (scrapes/wounds, shoes checked, lameness).

9:30 PM: Nightly horse check: Water buckets filled, hay made available/hay nets hung.

Your equine deserves the best care possible. Which is why we feed first quality Timothy and Timothy/Orchard X square hay bale. All 35 acres of pastures are properly managed and mowed. Grass blends include Orchard, Fescue, Rye, and Kentucky Blue Grass. Our equine pasture consultant is The Farm Clinic, Lexington, KY. Tribute Essential-K Ration Balancer is fed based on horse’s weight (half in am/half in pm). Supplements and medications are provided by horse owner and fed at no extra fee. Slow feed hay nets are available for evening or overnight feeding.Fresh water is tapped into a bucket in each stall allowing water consumption to be monitored. For horses that need supplemental feeding (bagged feed) due to age and/or health condition. Owners provide feed and it is dispensed at no additional fee.
